After hours of searching and seeing good and bad examples of typographic designs, I settled on this design. This design was created for Chesapeake Bay Foundation. This image was used for their ad campaign about preventing fish from chemical contamination. Their goal is to educate people of the dangers of chemicals and pollution to animal populations, and to encourage prevention. The image says “the mayfly swallowed fertilizer and then a bass swallowed him, and then you swallowed the bass.” The message is to warn you of the dangers of chemicals and how it eventually comes back to you. Their message is intended for everyone. Only humans can prevent this. One thing about this image that I enjoy is how they use the typography to create an effective image. It is not just type situated with an image of a fish. The type is completely the image. The concept of this design is to use type to create the illusion of a fish jumping from water. This makes the piece stronger. I believe that this design is strong and is portraying the concept well. I do not see typographic craft to be an issue.
